About Rack
Cases:
Rack cases are used to house and protect electronic
equipment. While some unusual applications require rack mount
width up to 33”, the standard rack mount width is 19”.
Rack mount height is measured in `rack units’ (RU). Each
RU measures 1.75”, so a 10RU rack mount case will accommodate
electronics stack up to 17.5” high inside the case. Rack
cases all have front mounting rails to which you attach the
electronics using rack `ears’ usually supplied with, or
as a part of the chassis of your equipment. Some heavier electronics
or devices heavily weighted at the rear also require rear rack
rails. Many applications require that plugs remain attached
at the rear or front of the electronics so check total depth
requirement. The term `rackable depth’ refers to the distance
from the front mounting rail to either the rear mounting rail
or to the rear edge of the cabinet.

SKB Rack cases are available for a wide variety of

EIA rack mount width and are available in several configurations:
Roto Rack cases are designed for static applications that do
not require anti vibration or shock protection. Roto Rack cases
are the most economical approach and can be ordered with rear
rack rails, full rear removable cover and optional caster wheels.
US Roto rack cases include recessed hardware, stackable design,
steel threaded rail mounts and full removable front and rear
covers.
Standard rack mount cases are the most popular style and include
front and rear rack rails and full removable front and rear
covers.
Shock mount rack cases designed for the most demanding applications
to protect sensitive electronics in both shippable and non-shippable
versions. Non shippable shock mount racks are a lower cost alternative
when you need shock protection but will not be shipping the
rack via common carriers, such as UPS or FedEx. The highest
performance standards are built into the Deep Shock Rack design.
These mil-spec cases are water tight and are designed with interchangeable
elastomers shock absorbers for a variety of weight loads. The
rack mount lids are uniquely designed to be either removable
or hinged.
Roll-X transportable rack cases with built-in wheels and retractable
handle will fit up to 17” rack depth and up to 6RU rack
height and are great for taking your equipment on the road with
you.
