Water Proof Cases
|
|
|
| Most cases designated
‘waterproof’ are actually just water resistant by
design. For most applications this is acceptable. To understand
the difference, generally speaking a waterproof case will not
leak water in to its’ interior when held to 1 meter submersion
under water test for 30 seconds; a water resistant case has
no such specification and can be any design which includes moisture
resistant barriers of any type, such as rubber `o-rings’
or seals. At Beacon Worldwide we do not accept manufacturer
cases designated waterproof or water resistant without testing
and every case designated waterproof will meet or exceed the
1 meter submersion test and every case designated water resistant
will have, at the very least, a complete O-Ring seal surrounding
the case closure seal.
Waterproof or water resistant cases should be considered
when you are protecting moisture sensitive equipment such
as electronics or photo gear in or near water or humid environments;
or where the case will be exposed to rain or wet environments.
The purpose of a water proof case is to ensure that no moisture
will come in contact with its’ contents when the case
is closed and exposed to possible water saturation during
normal use conditions. A ‘water resistant’ case
is appropriate for general luggage applications when the contents
are sensitive to exterior moisture or require protection from
possible inclement weather.
